Caregiver
Canada has a long history of welcoming caregivers to support its economy and society. As a caregiver, you can come to Canada to work or to become a permanent resident.
The current 5- year caregiver pilot program includes 2 programs, Home Child-Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot. Each program accepts a maximum of 2,750 principal applicants.
To be qualified to apply to PR, the applicant needs to
-
have 2 years of full-time Canadian work experience in an eligible caregiver occupation within the preceding 3 years
-
Language tests results showing a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 5;
-
One year of Canadian post-secondary education or the foreign equivalent
Caregivers who meet all the requirements but do not have 24 months of Canadian work experience may be eligible to apply an occupation-restricted open work permit, and after getting required work experience, the caregiver may be eligible to apply for permanent residence through these pilot programs.
The application process will be different depending on your personal situation.
