Family Sponsorship
Facilitating family reunification is a core immigration priority for the Government of Canada.
Under the family class, the sponsors must be Canadian citizens or Canadian permanent residents over18 years old, and are able to financially support the persons being sponsored.
Both the foreign nationals (applicants) and the sponsors will be assessed for eligibility under family sponsorship.
Spouse, Common-law Partner, Conjugal Partner and dependent children
To be eligible, the sponsor must live in Canada while the person being sponsored becoming a permanent resident.
The spousal sponsorship is often seen as relatively straightforward and simple. However, applicants, in spite of being married legally to the sponsors, sometimes will surprisingly find that their applications get refused because the officers consider the relationship between the applicant and the sponsor is mainly for the purpose of immigration.
We believe that a well-prepared application, supported by a proper explanation of peculiar aspects of the marriage is crucial for a positive outcome.
